Mr. Louis T. Hsieh has served as our independent Director since October 2016. He currently serves as the global chief financial officer, since April 2021, and a director, since June 2021, of Hesai Technology, a leader in lidar technology for autonomous driving and advanced driver assistance systems. Previous to that, Mr. Hsieh served as the chief financial officer of NIO Inc., an electric and autonomous vehicle developer that is listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE: NIO), from May 2017 to October 2019. Mr. Hsieh has held various positions at New Oriental Education & Technology Group, a private educational service provider that is listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE: EDU), including positions as a director since 2007, the president from 2009 to 2016 and the chief financial officer from 2005 to 2015. In addition, Mr. Hsieh serves as an independent director, member of the nominating and corporate governance committee and chairman of the audit committee for JD.com, Inc., an e-commerce company that is listed on the Nasdaq Stock Market (NASDAQ: JD) and the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (stock code: 9618). Previously, Mr. Hsieh served as an independent director and chairman of the audit committee for Nord Anglia Education, Inc. (NYSE: NORD). He also served as an independent director and the chairman of audit com-mittee for both Perfect World Co., Ltd. and China Digital TV Holding Co., Ltd. Mr. Hsieh obtained a juris doctor degree from the University of California at Berkeley in 1990. He brings to our Board corporate leadership and public company board experience as well as his extensive financial and international business experience.
